Do you feel weighed down by worry and self doubt?
If juggling relationships and education pressures on top of everything else is feeling too much and you're wondering if it’ll ever get better
together, we can figure things out and find a way forward
So that you can...
Say yes to things with confidence because you no longer worry that you're not capable but instead you trust yourself to figure it out.
Build friendships and relationships based on who you actually are, instead of who you think they want you to be.
Wake up feeling well rested and motivated, having slept well without worry and overthinking.
Feel proud of yourself instead of constantly comparing yoursef to others.
Live without that constant "what if I panic?" running in the background.
Figure out how you really feel and explore the future with curiosity instead of crushing pressure.
I describe counselling as a chance to
Pause, Explore, Understand and Change.
You can take time to pause and talk with someone who is separate from your everyday life. No judgements or expectations, just a space that's yours.
Together, we can explore the things that are important to you and build understanding that can help you to create positive changes, whatever that may be for you!
I have many years of experience with teens across lots of different settings. I was previously responsible for developing teen counselling services for a local charity. I loved this role because it allowed me to advocate for teens and find new and creative ways to ensure everyone could access what they wanted and needed.
I've also worked in schools, where I've met with teens who have been misunderstood by the education system. Together, we've explored how they can find their voice and build a future that feels right for them.
With this experience, I can be alongside you as you figure out your way forward. Each person is different! I'll get to know what feels right for you now and what might help you into your future, whatever that might look like.
My approach is neurodiversity affirming and I'll create an empowering environment that feels comfortable for you.
Get started
We'll take a 'zoomed out' approach. You are a person, not a diagnosis or list of symptoms. You have experienced a whole lifetime worth of things that may be contributing to where you are now. Together, we'll make sense of everything and find a path forward.
My approach is informed by approaches proven to support people towards lasting change. You’ll leave counselling with the knowledge to understand yourself and those around you, helping you to move forward and take on whatever may come your way.
I love it when my clients get to the stage where they start to tell me what they think I’ll say next!
I will be your biggest cheerleader. Together, we will celebrate your wins. Trust me, there will be plenty!
Therapy doesn't have to feel clinical to be effective! Here, you can be honest and completely yourself with someone who truly gets it. At your pace, you can take back control and build a life that finally feels like yours.
Session fee is £65 per hour. I ask that this is payed up to 48hrs before the scheduled session time as this confirms the appointment.
An intro call is a 20 minute free, no obligation chat with parent/carer. We’ll schedule it for a time that you can be in a quiet, confidential place.
We’ll chat about:
- Your teen and their reasons for starting therapy.
- Your teen's hopes and goals for therapy.
- What day to day looks like for your teen currently.
- Any previous therapy and what they liked or didn’t like about those approaches.
- You’ll have plenty of time to ask any questions.
If we feel like this might be a good fit, we’ll then schedule the initial session.
The benefit of private counselling is that you and your teen can choose how long we work together and how frequently we have sessions: weekly or fortnightly. We’ll have regular check-ins to talk about how therapy is progressing and if there is anything your teen would like to change or focus on. When the time feels right, I’ll support your teen in their decision to pause and we’ll close the work with a celebration of all that they have achieved. If ever ‘life happens’ and your teen feels that they could do with some extra sessions in the future, that’s normal and they’re always welcome back.
I share a copy of my privacy and safeguarding policy with all new clients. New clients are also sent a counselling agreement which outlines confidentiality, note taking and all other practical aspects. I ask that this is reviewed before the intro session so that you and your teen have a chance to raise any queries with me.
Most of the sessions will be 1-1. This is to encourage teens to talk openly with someone separate from their life which can be really beneficial for relationships outside the counselling room.
Wherever helpful, I encourage teens to voice the things that may support them outside of the sessions. I aim to empower them to do this or I can absolutely support too. I can help with conversations with parents, teachers or other professionals.
For teens who might feel a little nervous, we can ease into sessions by having a parent join us for the first few minutes. We can have a check in with parent's help and discuss what you might like to do in the session today then, when you feel ready, we'll transition into 1-1 support.
